Resource Allocation Policy

The allocation of resources between experiments is guided by the shares assigned in the GridPP4 proposal and approved by the Peer Review process.

Within this high-level strategy, the day-to-day allocation of resources is managed by the User Coordinator (formerly User Board Chair), who tries to balance the immediate needs of the various experiments within the resources available. In the event of contention for resources that can not be resolved by the User Coordinator, the issue would be escalated to the PMB and eventually to the CB. In such a situation, STFC may be consulted to clarify strategic issues within the particle physics programme that may influence the shares.

Overall, GridPP tries to mirror the strategic priorities of the entire programme and recognises that changes may have taken place since the GridPP4 proposal as a result of various review processes and new initiatives. GridPP also endeavours to provide pump-priming resources to enable new initiatives to get started.
